The Byakugan is the blood inheritance limit of the Hyuga Clan. When the Byakugan is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception. This allows them to see chakra in all forms, including the chakra circulatory system in the bodies of others, as well as the tenketsu, or the chakra pressure points. This vision also grants the member a three hundred sixty degree view of their surroundings, the higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blind spot that extends outwards from the vertebra of the upper back. The Byakugan also allows them to see through solid objects and across vast distances.

Like most members of the Hyuga clan, Iris specializes in the famously powerful taijutsu style of the Juken. Utilizing the Byakugan kekkei genkai, he relies on speed, agility and flexibility to move with quick and fluid movements in order to strike his targets. Following the greatest strengths of the Juken style means that simple taps or even near misses will still be enough to inflict severe damage with the use of chakra. He is surprisingly calm and confident in his abilities with the Juken. He is fully aware of its incredible power and efficiency in all situations, thus he almost never displays stress or concern in combat, no matter what is thrown his way. Iris is also a detailed analyst in the midst of battle, marking every last point of notice in his memory so that he can use it for his own benefit, or prevent himself from being taken by surprise by even the smallest and most insignificant changes in his surroundings. Another detail that sets Iris apart from the majority of most other Juken users is the fact that he has learned to read an enemy by watching the subconscious movements of their eyes. This allows him to see their basic train of thought or emotion, as well as telling precisely what they are looking at, one of the many abilities that few Hyuga have learned, yet one of the main reasons why the Byakugan is stated to have the greatest level of insight amongst all the legendary doujutsu.

Appearance: Iris, just like all others within the Hyuga clan, has a very slender and agile frame built for pure speed and flexibility. He has very pale skin, as his body is usually covered by his choice of attire. Long black hair makes him resembles most members of the Hyuga family, which he keeps held back in a single pony tail. His choice of clothing first starts with a skin tight long sleeved shirt and pants, black in color. Over this he wears a pair of baggy white pants that fit loosely for maximum comfort and mobility, yet tightened around his waist and ankles to prevent it from moving or getting in the way during combat. He also wears an over-shirt much like a cloak that is worn on his arms yet the back of which drapes down to his knees. A small section cut out of the shoulders ensures that it while not limit the range of movement by his arms. The back of the cloak is dawned with the Hakke symbol, signifying the importance of the divination field for the Hyuga and their powerful Juken arts. This is a piece passed down to him by his father as recognition of his status as heir to the leader of the Hyuga.

Personality: As the heir to the throne of rule amongst the Hyuga, Iris is held to a much higher standard than that of his peers, and as such he must act the part. He is treated with the honor and respect of a future king amongst his clansmen, mostly for the fact that he is the heir, but also due to his dedication and effort toward becoming strong enough to personally hold the title. He trains constantly, always pushing himself to his limits to perfect the powerful style of fighting that is unique to his clan, knowing that he must prove the Hyuga's strength to all whom doubt it. Just as all royalty must learn the ways of their kingdom in order to properly run it some day, the same laws have followed Iris as he grows. He has been lectured countless times over the importance of the segregation between the Main and Branch houses in order to completely protect the clans' pride and joy: the Byakugan. For this reason, Iris takes his role as a Main House member very seriously, treating the Branch just as all other Mains' do. This is often hard for him as he can clearly see the pain and hatred in their eyes every day, yet he has been taught to believe that their anguish is a small price to pay for the prosperity and power of the clan for generations to come.

Due to his pampered yet strictly guided childhood as the heir to the most pristine clan in the lands, Iris is an extreme elitist. He believes that he is better than all of his peers, in intelligence, power and importance. He often degrades, talks down to and belittles those who should otherwise be earning his friendship and trust. He feels that bringing others down will make them push themselves to prove him him wrong, thus making them even stronger, a task that he is proud to assist with even if it goes unnoticed and makes them hate him; for the good of the village. Iris enjoys battle because it lets him truly test his skill and gives him the experience needed to grow strong. Though, Iris craves to become even stronger than most, certain that he needs to reach a level of perfection to properly take the title of clan leader and make his father proud. For this reason, Iris will take nearly any route in order to gain power, even if it means a path of evil or forbidden techniques. Although Iris often seems like an ignorant jerk who treats everyone like trash, those who actually gain his friendship are bestowed with an endlessly loyal ally who will risk life and limb to protect. However, gaining his respect is not easy, as he only views potential respect in those with power and skill. Iris has learned the way of the ninja from his father; that the well being of the clan and the safety of the Byakugan remain at the top of all priorities. Afterwards comes the good of the village, meaning that the success of missions is placed well above the lives of his allies on his mental pedestal. It is for this reason that he shows more respect for powerful members of clans that help support Konoha, especially the Uchiha and Senju for their assistance in founding the village.

History: Twelve years ago, within one of the oldest districts within the walls of Konohagakure no Sato, the prestigious Hyuga clan experienced an omen of joy and prosperity. The head of the clan, Hyuga Kyoumaku, was blessed with a son, whom he named Airisu. From the time of his birth, Iris would be taken under the wing of his father, pushed to perfection every step of the way. This led many to believe he was being abused, yet it was the norm amongst the Hyuga, a method that was followed to ensure the strict and pristine attitude of them all for generations. Iris was fairly secluded from his peers, too busy gaining knowledge and training as a ninja to bother with friends or having fun. It was a tough childhood, but one that was deemed necessary to ensure that the next head of the Hyuga was up to the task, both mentally and physically.

Years would pass, yet Iris had little track of time, every single day being the exact same as the day before. He would wake up early, spend several hours studying to gain knowledge on various subjects, then spend the remainder of the day honing his taijutsu skills and chakra control. His only way of knowing one day from the next was that he would be punished whenever he did not meet his fathers standards for that day, not pushing himself hard enough or forgetting so much as a single word that he had read earlier. One of the most important parts of his teaching was purely psychological, being raised to know that members of the branch house were servants and nothing more. They were not to act out in any way, they were to serve and protect, and they were not allowed to learn the greatest techniques of the clan. His father promised him that when he reached the rank of Jonin, he would learn the seal to control the branch members whom disregard the strict rules of the clan.

Ate the age of eight, Iris entered the academy, going in much later than originally intended as his father wanted to train him alone more. Because of this, he entered the academy with most of the knowledge and skills already learned, yet he did not express his disliking of relearning such mundane things and instead stayed with all of his peers. His intelligence was obvious as he passed the exams years later with ease and at the top of the class. Upon graduating, he became a genin and joined a team with none other than the Uchiha's own heir to the throne. Iris now focuses on gaining strength and becoming as powerful as possible so that he can be the greatest Hyuga clan leader ever and make his father proud.
