Fighting Style: As a puppeteer ninja of his village, Nazojin relies on deception and trickery above all else. He believes that lying and fooling an enemy is more helpful than being stronger or having more ninjutsu than them. For this reason, everything about him is mysterious for his own advantages. He hides every part of his body from view beneath baggy clothing, allowing weapons to be hidden or movements to be made without being seen. He also dresses his puppets to look just like himself, as well as his own brother dressing the same most of the time, making the two almost entirely indistinguishable. In addition, he not only dresses his puppets like himself to confuse the enemy over which one is real, but has learned to both move like a puppet and control his own puppet to move realistically, making it nearly impossible for most people to tell the difference between himself and his puppet. Of course, this is easily figured out by ninja that can see chakra. His strange way of speaking and view of the most mundane details allows him to speak things which are not the truth, yet with his heart and eyes both acting just as they do when he tells the truth.
It is not only his appearance that fools enemies, but his voice as well. He will often choose to remain completely silent the entire time, having gone so far as to learn to not make noise even when injured or struggling. He is aware that talking can often give away weaknesses or intentions without realizing, thus he is wary of this. However, there are just as many times where he will yell non stop just to annoy his enemies or cause enough noise to ensure other actions out of sight go unnoticed. Many times, he will speak in a very strange way that is entirely unlike normal conversation, bringing confusion and mystery to his persona. His actual style of fighting is no different, using a wide array of techniques that have never before been seen, thus are almost never predicted. Using just as much trickery with his combat arts as he does in his personality, he will do his best to fool his opponent into underestimating him, making mistakes, or simply not acknowledge something that will go unseen and allow him to turn the tides of the fight. Every single thing he does is done for a reason, claiming that he does not utter a word or take a step when it does not serve a purpose in giving him an advantageous edge at some point during the fight. Even if he beats his opponents down with brute force, he states that he never wins from power alone, and that if he won the fight, it meant that he first defeated the opponent on a psychological level.
Completely aware of all the weaknesses that the infinitely versatile art of puppetry has, Nazojin has based much of his techniques to combat these downfalls. This not only allows him to counter that which would normally result in his defeat, but even to turn the fight in his favor in a situation where most puppeteers would fall. Although a single puppeteer is a force to be reckoned with, able to outmaneuver and outnumber an opponent on their own, Nazojin’s greatest strength is when he is paired with his twin brother, Bunraku. Using a similar, albeit very different and just as unique, style as himself, the two become even more powerful. Displaying flawless coordination and teamwork, they can not only outsmart and overpower their opponent far more efficiently than alone, but will also use their mysterious tactics with one another to confuse their enemies even more. A result of using his own strength of puppetry to combat his weakness of close range combat in his own way, Nazojin has become rather skilled in taijutsu when using his unique weapons. Using a specially modified scythe to control his puppet while dishing out deadly damage in melee range, he also wears a hollow puppet as full-body armor which allows him to take a heavy degree of damage with no ill effect, then being able to remove the pieces and assemble the puppet for further combat if his first is disabled.
Appearance: Nazojin is the average size of a boy his age, both in height and weight, possessing roughly the same musculature as his peers who engage in regular physical exertion. He has a rather dull and regular appearance with short, unkempt brown hair and brown eyes. His skin is very pale in color, highly lacking of exposure to sunlight as he is usually inside working on new technology and his choice of clothing. He has a few scars across his body, result of failed but learning attempts while creating new equipment and weapons. Most unique about Nazojins’s appearance is his choice of attire, wishing to almost never reveal himself to the outside world. Wearing regular shinobi pants and a long sleeved shirt, he wears his forehead protector as a belt. Though none of this is ever seen as he wears baggy red pants and sweat shirt with a hood that easily cover his entire body. This is coupled with white shoes that hide his feet, entirely unlike typical shinobi sandals, as well as white gloves and even a strange, emotionless white mask that keeps his face out of sight. This all serves to ensure no person can view him, giving plenty of room to hide weapons without any hint of them being there, as well as adding mystery and uncertainty to his entire visage.
Personality: Although Nazojin is very similar to his kin, he and Bunraku do differ. Nazojin being more talkative than his brother, but still equally if not more confusing. Still, he chooses to almost always keep his identity hidden with a strange outfit, few have ever actually seen what he looks like, leaving little more than speculation and random guesses for the imagination. Having chosen the shinobi path of the infamous Sunagakure puppeteer, being raised as such by his mother along with his twin brother, he has learned that deception is his greatest tool. Something about other peoples confusion, and annoyance fuels him, almost like a sadist is fueled by the pain of others. In addition, he feels less alienated when he himself is the one who puts forth an awkward disposition.
Although his behaviors often drive potential allies away, as they never know when he is serious or not, it has proven to be a powerful tool when he wishes it to be. It is safe to say that nobody truly understands how he thinks or why he does what he does, except for his family. When with his brother Bunraku, they understand one another like no other ever could. Somehow able to figure out what they mean even when their words don't make sense, and read each others' unpredictable styles with ease, figuring out what every little action is intended for in the long run even without speaking a word of the plan. For this reason, the two become even more strange when together, with attacks and conversations alike making no sense at all, only becoming clear if they wish to explain, which is extremely rare.
History: Born in the secluded desert town of Sunagakure no Sato, Nazojin entered the world within seconds of his twin brother, Bunraku. The two were born to happy parents, a mother who was a skilled puppeteer ninja and a father who was a highly intelligent inventor. Raised together, the two bonded even more than most siblings, destined to be best of friends likely for the rest of their lives. They played together, learned together and caused trouble together, though rarely did they ever fight. By the age of five, they had already begun training in the ninja arts, learning how to become shinobi just like their parents. Naturally, they took after the rare art that her mother had become quite proficient with, choosing to be puppeteers of the village.
While their mother taught them the use of chakra and the little used ability of strings made from it, their father gave them the knowledge of engineering and blacksmithing, allowing them to slowly learn how to forge the inventions that their imagination and ingenuity summoned. The two would train together in both fields, or get one-on-one lessons separately back and forth, always ensuring the maximum learning potential. By age eight, they had learned enough to be able to crudely construct their own puppets under the supervision of their father, along with helpful advice from their mother. This feeling of accomplishment and self pride from making their own powerful ninja tools exhilarated them and drove their ambitions even further.
Entering the academy soon after, the two would continue to learn from the school and their parents, each day gaining new ideas of how to improve their skills. Yet it was on the day that the school talked about the importance of being sneaky and deceptive as a ninja. Returning home, the two would ask their parents about this, only to find out that it was even more necessary as a puppet user. This led the brothers to ensure that nobody would ever be able to figure out their style or know their secrets. They decided to put their own unique twists on both the art of puppetry, as well as the tools and equipment that they would use, making a strategy unique to one another that not even other puppeteers would be able to figure out.
While most were graduating a few years before them, proving themselves as genius', the brothers decided not to push themselves faster than what was needed. They spent much time further enhancing their skills and knowledge before bothering to graduate the academy. They both passed with identical scores right in the middle of the class, ensuring that they would be placed on a team together. Now Genin, their goals are unknown, just as is everything else about them.
Inventory:Nazojin
The first two puppets to ever be created by Nazojin, they are both constructed in exactly the same fashion. His puppets are constructed from steel, making them far more durable to all forms of damage, yet are left completely hollow to make them just as light and mobile as the normal wooden counterparts. Rather than being filled with weapons like most, it is instead constructed with a two layer exoskeleton, where the outer layers lift to reveal different kinds of summoning tags to unleash other weapons. Made to be the exact same shape as himself and only a few inches bigger overall, it is also dressed exactly like him, making it nearly impossible to tell the difference between the puppet and himself by visual means alone. Stored in the top and bottom panels of both forearms are summoning tags to shoot shuriken and kunai. On the face, directly behind the mask, contains a scroll to shoot a concentrated stream of fire out of the mouth of the mask. A panel on top of the head of the puppet contains a mechanism that generates a powerful electric current, easily enough to momentarily paralyze anyone touching it, even through the clothing that covers it. The rest of the body possesses no weapons, and is instead filled with summoning tags between the panels which can summon numerous explosive tags. Only used as a last resort, the entire puppet can be forced to explode with devastating force, typically enough to kill any unprotected foe within fifty meters. Obviously, this destroys the puppet in the process, thus is a risky move to make if victory can not be assured. The fact that is is hollow and a few inches bigger allows Nazojin to hide within them to act as an armored defense while also allowing him to control his puppets from within, though the large and baggy clothing prevents any difference in size from being noticeable.
Nazoin’s second puppet design. there are two tricks to such a weapon. The first being that it has special holes in it for his fingers, allowing him to use his puppetry though the various handles. The second, is that the scythe itself is a simple puppet. Being able to be disassembled, and bent, it has several joints. The blade itself can split into two blades, forming a T shape rather than the typical scythes L shape, or as all sides are sharp, can be used like giant hedge clippers at the end of the staff, creating a V shape able to cut through things as dense as bone. At each protruding handle the scythe has a hidden ball joint and can bend in any direction or disconnect allowing for a spring loaded spike to protrude as a secondary weapon, or to be fired, once per joint. Each outer handle itself can disconnect from the weapon itself without causing the scythe itself to come apart, and also have spring loaded spikes. Lastly, a Final blade is hidden in the bottom of the scythes staff, at two feet long it resembles the blade of a straight-sword, and is the only retractable item in the scythe that cannot be fired. In order to further blend in with his brother and puppets, Nazojin has three of these, one for himself, and one for each Nazojin puppet.
